MUSIC PROJECTS

Lamisi is currently performing ahead of her album release with her neo-traditional quartet comprising of: Wanlov the Kubolor, a multi-instrumentalist Pijin rapper and singer playing Koshka, bamboo flute, frikyiwa, and basket shakers.

Nii Sowah, a master percussionist and singer from Accra playing a calabash drum, talking drum, and other percussion instruments. King Kobi, a traditional multi-instrumentalist and singer from Bolga playing an ancient fiddle called duruna or goje, traditional flute, and a traditional calabash shaker. Lamisi herself also plays basket shakers in the band and uses a vocal pedal to create ethereal vocals.

To imagine the music Lamisi performs from her yet-to-be released project “Let Us Clap” , think Daft Punk lead vocals, Fatoumata Diawara melodies, and authentic West African village music. Lamisi’s quartet have played at venues like Jamestown Boutiqu, Sofar sounds and Abajo in Accra, as well as the Kwaku Festival in Amsterdam. The music and performance is designed to take you into a bold happy future with ancient fresh energies.
